About the Speaker

Andreas Hemming

Andreas Hemming will present the region Mirdita in Northern Albania, a region with a very special history. He will be talking about his research as a ethnologist in the region, which was isolated for a very long time. And he will be showing which impact the construction of the new highway to Kosova had for this barely developped mountain area.

As chairman of the German-Albanian Friendship Society, Andreas Hemming will be talking about the association, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary in a few years. The Swiss-Albanian Society and the German-Albanian Friendship Society started a collaborate some years ago. Andreas’ visit to Zurich is also a good occasion to foster exchange and create contacs.
